RESKILL Webinar Highlights Growing Interest and Key Findings

On 25 May, the RESKILL project hosted an international webinar to present its mid-term results and engage a diverse audience from across Europe. The event attracted around 45 registered participants, with approximately half attending live, reflecting strong interest in the project and its solutions for the hospitality and tourism sector.

Participants joined from a broad international background, representing education providers, industry stakeholders, and individuals interested in reskilling and employment opportunities. This diversity highlighted the relevance of RESKILL across different national contexts and labour market challenges.

During the session, the consortium shared key insights from its ongoing research and development activities. One of the main findings was that soft skills are the top priority for employers, with an average score of 4.18 out of 5, ahead of digital and green skills. These include competencies such as adaptability, empathy, emotional intelligence, and conflict resolution—skills considered essential across all participating countries. The research also confirmed that, despite recognising the importance of workforce development, employer investment in formal training remains low, with rates not exceeding 29% in any country sample. This underlines the need for accessible, flexible training solutions such as those being developed within the project.

Webinar participants were introduced to the upcoming RESKILL platform, which will offer over 60 short microcourses tailored to the needs of the hospitality and tourism sector. In addition, the project is developing a mobile application to support learner profiling and job matching, further enhancing connections between training and employment.

The interactive format allowed attendees to engage through questions and discussions, including interest in upcoming in-person pilot trainings. The next sessions are planned in Kiel (Germany) and later in Barcelona, alongside a final public conference foreseen for 2027. Overall, the webinar demonstrated not only the progress of the RESKILL project but also the growing demand for innovative approaches to skills development in tourism. Stakeholders are encouraged to stay connected through project channels as the platform and app approach their official launch.
