Our intensive training days will give you the basic understanding and skills to get started on this field. No previous experience is needed. Training days will be held at Laurea University of Applied Sciences campus in Tikkurila (near railway station). Training includes also some online assignments. You can participate in all days, or only to some – according to your individual needs. This training does not affect your benefits; we encourage you to contact your employment service contact person if you have any questions regarding benefits. Only requirement is that you are able study in English.

Topic 1)
Soft skills
In Hospitality and Tourism sector competencies such teamwork and co-operation skills, flexibility, time management and customer service skills are of importance. This training gives you an introduction into general topics.

Topic 2)
Finnish language course
This course teaches the basics of Finnish in a restaurant context at proficiency level A1. The course consists of two classroom sessions and independent study on the Moodle platform. The course introduces students to the most common vocabulary and phrases used in the restaurant field. After completing the course, you will be able to answer simple questions in Finnish.

Topic 3)
Hygiene Pass training
This course provides an introduction to food hygiene and prepares participants for the Hygiene Passport test. The course consists of two practice-oriented teaching sessions and an official Hygiene Passport test. The course covers the key principles of food hygiene, including cleanliness, self-monitoring, and food safety. After completing the course, you will understand the Hygiene Passport requirements and be ready to take the official test.

We also offer the possibility to do the official Hygiene Pass as part of the training. Later the option to a 1-week internship in a hotel or restaurant is possible to select successful candidates who have completed training in-person and necessary online assignments.
